OH WONDER ULTRALIFE

Building on their self-titled debut album of hopeful indie-pop, London songwriting pair Oh Wonder (Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West) are back with extra gloss on their bright, electronic single ‘Ultralife’. Written, recorded and produced entirely by the duo, what they’ve done here is taken the best bits of previous songs - the piano, the vocals, the emotion - and turned them into choppy samples and dance progressions that are perfect for booming out into a larger crowd. It’s as though they’ve taken the energy and all 83,000 ticket sales from their live shows, distilled it and poured that straight into ‘Ultralife’. Of course, one thing we love about Oh Wonder is the romantic sentiment, something that they've kept on as a sense of the good times. 'Ultralife' is about finding some who not only completes you but takes your very existence to the next joyous level. It's another feat of tremendous songwriting from Oh Wonder; definitely a summer anthem. - HT
